Youth Engagement

At Empower CNY, we connect our student volunteers directly with younger students in need. Any high school or college student can register to become a part of the team in a number of different ways. We’ve built our volunteer base of 200+ high school volunteers through a multitude of outreach techniques.

We’ve designed fliers and put them up in public locations. We’ve reached out to counseling departments at 10+ high schools in the region (Liverpool, Nottingham, Jamesville-Dewitt, Fayetteville-Manlius, etc.), PTO organizations at elementary/middle schools, & even superintendent offices. We’ve worked with the Syracuse University Office of Community Engagement & other local partners to help get youth involved. See our ‘Community Outreach’ initiative for more information.

We believe that the most valuable aspect of Empower CNY is the platform volunteers have access to. No matter how long you have been a part of the team, or what role you currently serve, you work alongside other volunteers from all over the region to make a difference at the grassroots level and give back to your community. We are constantly searching for motivated students to become a part of Empower CNY, so they may recognize their influence and direct it positively towards younger children surrounding them.

Empower CNY is a completely student-run organization. Whether you are a part of a leadership team or not, you will always be contributing to and collaborating in some way on organizational decisions. Without youth engagement from our community, we would not be able to accomplish a number of our goals. Empower CNY’s youth leadership is the key to its operations.
